Well into our cruise
My crew has done a great job bringing me to the northern BC coast. After we left Seattle, we headed to Anacortes to fuel up. We then made our way to Prevost Harbor on Stuart Island (San Juan Islands) and anchored there. My crew took me to one of my favorite spots - Westcott Bay Oyster Farm. The tender ride over from Stuart turned into quite an adventure. The seas were rough and I got a got dousing from the waves. Once there, the sun came out and I was able to dry my fur. I watched my captain Schuck dozens of oysters - all he let me do, was lick out the empty shells. But I enjoyed it nonetheless.
After Stuart we headed to Montague Harbor. We cleared customs and with my rabies shots up to date - I had no issue entering Canada. We spent a few days anchoring here before heading to Comox. There we tied up on the Harbor Authority dock and I was able to give my four legs a little workout again. Being a dog on anchor is not always easy!
From Comox we headed to Rebecca Spit on Quadra Island. After a few nights on anchorage, we headed to Campbell River. My Captain needed to head off on a business trip, so I stayed on board in the marina with my first mate. When he got back we stayed to celebrate Canada Day, before heading to Mansons Landing to spend a night there on anchorage and collect clams the next morning. I enjoy collecting clams! My paws get pretty dirty wading through the low tide shore, but my first mate does a great job giving me a bath after such adventures!
Next we headed to one of my favorite anchorages - Prideaux Haven in Desolation Sound. We spent a few days there basking in the sun and prawning. I love prawns! I can eat them raw. I can eat them cooked. I can eat there here and there - I can eat them anywhere!
After Prideaux we made our way through the Devils Hole rapids and spent a night anchoring in Thurston Bay, before making the big run to Port McNeill the next day. We stayed in Port McNeill for 2 nights - provisioning, fueling, and enjoying extensive walks!
We left early in the morning to make our way across Queen Charlotte Sound and around Cape Caution to Fury Cove. In Fury Cove I want kayaking with my crew and we explored the lovely beaches there, before heading to Pruth Bay.
I love this place! There are lovely sand beaches right on the Pacific Ocean - I can run around without a leash and get in tons of exercise. We also did some fishing here and caught a big lingcod! I am exited when my crew catches fish, not only because eating fish makes them happy - but they also give me some. And boy do I love fish!
We then headed to up further north in the Spider Islands. This island group is right on the Pacific Ocean with wonderful views. Anyway..I am currently hanging out here. Unfortunately there is no opportunity to go to shore, so I am getting my steps in by walking around Akela and taking care of my business on the swim platform.
Ciao, Charlie
